Every year the strongest motor racers from all over Lithuania come together for the motor rally "Visaginas", which is held at the end of January. An especially complicated route passes along snow- and ice covered earth roads through surrounding wood. The motor race "Visaginas" is considered as a one of the Lithuanian National Championship laps in this sport art. All people in love and those who are about to fall in love celebrate St.Valentine’s Day on February 14. February 16 is marked by celebration of a National Day. At the beginning of March the National Dance Festival Gervė ("Crane") gathers the best youth groups of Visaginas in the Club Banga. The club doesn't exactly have the amenities and banquets of the posh hotels in blackpool, but the planned events more than make up for it. The beginning of March is the date for the festival "Poetry Spring". "Spring Music in Visaginas" is the nameof a traditional festival of classical music, which host such celebrities as the chamber ensemble "Musica humana" conducted by Professor Algirdas Vizgirda, the Lithuanian chamber orchestra conducted by Saulius Sondeckis, the tenor Virgilius Noreika and many others. The Art Day is held on the last Saturday of May in Visaginas. In June creative youth and town guests come together for the traditional rock-festival Asorti. The end of June is famous for a merry Joninės. That’s what means wreaths with burning candles on them ill be floating onto Lake Visaginas and romanticists will be looking for a magic flower of fern, which assists in finding treasures over the whole night. Every second year in July Visaginas hosts the International Folklore Festival Ežerų sietuva, where creative groups from India, the Czech Republic, Germany, Scotland, Israel and other countries introduce audience to the best examples of folklore. Every year participants of the International Young Atomic Worker Festival Disnai come together. After lively discussions of world nuclear energy problems at the science symposium, workers from Ignalina NPP and nuclear enterprises from the USA, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, Sweden, Germany and other countries head for a tent camp on the coast of Lake Luodis and organize there every possible contests and competitions. On August 10 Visaginas celebrates the Town day. At about the same time Visaginas turns into the country music-capital of Lithuania and the famous Lithuanian Woodstock – the festival Visagino country brings together thousands of spectators, who are able to listen to performances of world known country music stars tirelessly for two days and nights, to dance, to drink beer "Utenos" and just enjoy the life. Annually at November in Lithuanian language school Verdenės conducted international children‘s folklore festival – "Martynas". Different children from all over the World take part in this festival. They were from Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Latvia, Byelorussia, Poland, Hungary, Czech. At the end of November cherubic songs of Sacral Music Festival participants are heard under the vaults of the catholic St. Paul’s cathedral. The festival commemorates the memory of Ceciliia, the patron of chapel art. In winter Visaginas dwellers celebrate beloved by everyone Christmas and the New Year Eve.
